The Churchill Arms is a great place full of great people. It is one of them traditional British pubs which there aren't many around anymore sadly. If you want a quiet drink with great atmosphere in the Notting Hill area then my recommendation would definitely be this place!

External appearance is very deceiving, step into an incredibly friendly boozer. The choice of beers is extensive with many real ales on offer. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food or should I say Pizzas are fantastic, don't bother yourself with the standard pizza brands in the high street, here you will get a fantastic pizza, very flavourful but with a pint of true English Ale. What more could you wish for.
Top marks to Russell and the team

Poppy & Pint - Beer with a sneer... AVOID!

We are regulars at the Poppy & Pint and have been in today with friends and our children buying drinks and snacks and meals.

We decided to have a meal after our drink but have been really disappointed with the food but most of all disgusted by the customer service received today.

I made an error with 1 of the food orders and immediatly returned to the bar to rectify it. I had only made the order less than 2mins previously but was told flatly that it was too late and the kitchen were making the dish, so I would have to pay again if I wanted the the correct meal.

The attitude of the bar person and the bar manager was that it was my fault for the incorrect order and the was nothing they could do.

if a customer makes a mistake with a food order is it really your policy to charge them the full amount to rectify if the order was placed a couple of minutes previous?

To add insult to injury when our food arrived the burgers were like school dinner burgers and on completion the manager came over to our table and reminded us that it was our fault. All in all a new years day meal spoilt by the food and staff at the Poppy & Pint.

Hi, I have lived in Beeston since , well whenever and have frequented the Crown since 1983, during this time i have seen Owners/Managers come and go. Paul the last guy, before it was a Real Ale Pub, was brilliant, respected his customers and knew most by name, ( not just the ones they wanted to).... If you had any issues he listened. Since becoming a Real Ale pub, it has become a pub, that the landlord no longer listenes to public communications, and also takes into account what other Real Ale pubs are focusing on, rather than what is happening in their own area. The drinks can sometimes be very limited to a poor selection of ciders and beers, and also the staff young, and can be rude before listening to you. Waht used to be a very welcoming place, now disappointing.

This is my second visit to this restaurant and it didnt disappoint. The food came out hot the service was good and the price was great value for money, The total price for our 3 course meal and drinks came to £43!!! i could not have got a take away for that. The only minor points are that it is not well signed outside and the toilets could do with spruce up. but when you weigh up the service and food against these minor points i would recommend a visit.

This week I travelled from Worksop-- Nottingham -Derby by bus( a bit of a trial Worksop --Nottingham 1and half hrs) Nottingham-- Derby excellent(Barton red arrow, luxury ,every 10 mins.

Point of my post is to concur wholeheartedly with your Tamatanga review. Had 50 mins wait on return journey, put this to good use with an excellent Palak Ghost curry bowl and lassi ,@ £6,95 .This was an early bird price, later on the course was £9.75 on its own.
Service could not have been better, much of an improvement on some desi type quickie restaurants. A pleasant break in my journey from the real ale pubs of Derby

Once you've tried craft keg there's no going back! We are longing for more craft beer bars to open locally - it's getting expensive travelling all the way to Manchester, York, London etc etc.

Be sure to tell us when your site is published, Gary, and we'll link to you!
