We discovered Sagar several years ago and never stopped talking about it. Given the amount of curry that we consume on a regular basis at curryandbeer towers that is really saying something! We make sure to eat there every time we visit London.
The first time we ate there is was a revelation! We had never eaten vegetarian curry that tasted like this. We were in awe of one dish in particular which turned out to be turnip. Astonishing! I still remember the beaming face of the waiter as he surveyed our incredulity. Turnip. Of all things! Probably the most humble of vegetables – but in the hands of these wizards, it had become a dish fit for royalty. I kid you not!
It’s not just the curries either – you should see the dosas. I adore paper dosas and always have one whenever I get the opportunity. Sagar do 4 foot diameter paper dosas of such wonderful lightness and crispness that they literally melt in your mouth.
On top of the wonderful food, I can tell you that it’s a lovely little restaurant, and the staff are so helpful.
I notice from their website that several other branches have now opened in and around London, so they must be doing well. Maybe one day they’ll come to Nottingham – I can dream can’t I?
