This is a curiosity of a pub, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral. It’s a trip back in time with stone floors, dangerously low beamed ceilings. It has 4 cosy rooms, with real log fires.
It’s not really a place to go to savour real ales: the fare is on the modest scale, but it’s still worth a visit every now and then if only for its lovely 16th century architecture.
It’s not somewhere I would want to spend long in because of the smell of chips that pervade the air. The cheap and cheerful pub food goes down well with the luchtime shoppers and office workers.
